On December 10, CHEN Weijun, member of party committee and executive vice chairman of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, along with other leaders from related departments inspected the Xinjiang Astronomical Observatory (XAO).

Dr. WANG Na, Director of XAO, introduced the scientific goals, construction progress and other related scientific issues of the QTT project. Moreover, based on the development history and strategic orientation of the XAO, she introduced the significant role of Xinjiang has taken in the radio telescope network distribution in China and in the whole world, and also introduced the scientific layout, construction, operation and other development conditions of the ground stations of XAO.     

CHEN Weijun fully affirmed the works accomplished by XAO, and stated that XAO should make full use of the advantages of the astronomical observation environment to seize the opportunities of the new era，as well as work hard and make great developments on astronomical research in China and even the worldwide, making great contributions to the astronomical development in the western China.  

The visit was carried out with the companions of president of Xinjiang Branch, and vice president   of Xinjiang branch, Chen Xi.
