From 13-14 November, GAO Hongjun, Deputy Secretary-General of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), inspected Xinjiang Astronomical Observatory.

During the inspection, Dr. GAO visited the planetarium in Moyu county, a construction jointly built by XAO and Moyu county. Dr. WANG Na, Director of Xinjiang Astronomical Observatory (XAO), introduced the background information of the planetarium. She described the idea of the exhibition installation，current situation of scientific spirit dissemination, and the atmosphere for learning and enjoying science. SONG Huagang, Chief of Popular Science Center of XAO, introduced the scientific information of the planetarium. 

At the Kashi site, HAN Wei, Head of Astronomical Application Research Division, introduced the general situation and research development of the site, together with the information of the project security and construction of Muztagata site.

Dr. GAO also visited the EMC Technology Laboratory, Microwave Receiver Technology Laboratory. CHEN Maozheng, Deputy Director of XAO, introduced the operation status of each lab, and the research progress on ultra-wideband and multi beam receivers, cryogenic MMIC low-noise amplifiers for V-band, digital backend, EMC protection and evaluation of several key technologies. Dr. GAO highly affirmed the achievements made by XAO, and provided constructive advices for XAO.

The visit was carried out with the companions of Vice President of Xinjiang Branch, CHEN Xi, and Head General Office of Bureau of Frontier Sciences and Education, Chinese Academy of Sciences, LI Yunlong.
