On August 15th, Hou Jianguo, deputy secretary of the Party Committee and vice president of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) with his team investigated Xinjiang Astronomical Observatory (XAO).
Hou Jianguo concerned about the advancement of 110-m Aperture Radio Telescope (QTT) Program. Wang Na, the director of Xinjiang Astronomical Observatory, reported on the progress of the scientific goal, the technical proposals and the construction of QTT. Hou Jianguo visited 3-m anechoic chamber, microwave technique laboratory and CNC workshop, which supports the construction for QTT. In addition, he focused on the advanced technology of QTT, the level of domestic industrial support and the promotion & application of new technology in other fields. Xinjiang Astronomical Observatory will make full use of the advantages of astronomical observation environment to promote the development of Chinese astronomy. At the same time, XAO will bring up scientific research team to support efficient operation of equipment.
Some relevant person from Department for Party-related Affairs, Bureau of Science & Technology for Department and Bureau of Personnel of CAS investigated Xinjiang Astronomical Observatory accompanied by Zhang Xiaolei, Director of Science & Technology Department of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and president of the Xinjiang Branch CAS, Mu Zhenjiang, the deputy secretary of the Party Committee and vice president of the Xinjiang Branch CAS, and Chen Xi, the member of the Party Committee and vice president of the Xinjiang Branch CAS.
