On May 12,2017,Ma Xudong, the party secretary of Qitai county committee and leader of relevant departments, visited the Qitai observational base for the 110m aperture fully steerable radio telescope (QTT). Dr. Na Wang, the director of Xinjiang Astronomical Observatory, introduced the scientific goals of the QTT project, infrastructure construction of Qitai base, scientific supports and the development prospect of scientific tourism. Ma Xudong said that “we welcome and strongly support the settlement of the QTT project in Qitai county. The county government will give financial support for the 35kV power transmission project, and assist with relocating the residents around the observational base.”

During the visit, leaders from Qitai County highly praised the spirit of the site workers. Under the leadership of Dr. Wang, they have done great jobs in such tough conditions. County Committee said that they would give great supports on the QTT project constructions.
