On October 12,2016, LIU weiping, the Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and the Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and other leaders of relevant departments inspected Nanshan base of Xinjiang Astronomical Observatory(XAO).

They visited the astronomy laboratories of Nanshan base, during the visit our researchers gave detailed introductions on operations of 25-m radio telescope and 1.2m Quantum Communication telescope. They listened the reports on the history of XAO, planning target and innovation achievements.

Deputy secretary, vice president Liu weiping acknowledged and think highly of our contributions and results on the astronomy and national defense missions. And gave three proposals for our research works: first, make systematic construction plan on observation stations. Take full advantage of the three observation stations, and optimize the platform resources, stimulate research abilities and continuously promote the large diameter radio telescope project.
