Radio Astrophysics Research Division
The radio astrophysics research division at the Xinjiang Astronomical Observatory, Chinese Academy of Sciences, focuses on radio astronomy and related fields across the electromagnetic spectrum. Its research covers pulsars and gravitational waves, star formation and the interstellar medium, active galactic nuclei and galaxy evolution, astrochemistry and the origins of life, and planetary science. By employing the NanShan Radio Telescope, the Qitai Radio Telescope (under construction), and multi-wavelength observations, the division seeks to advance the understanding of astrophysical processes throughout the Universe.
The division currently consists of the following five research groups:
Pulsar Research Group;
Star Formation and Evolution Research Group;
Galactic Cosmology Research Group;
Astrochemistry Research Group;
Planetary Science Research Group.
