China-Central Asia Joint Research Center for the History of Astroarcheology
China-Central Asia Joint Research Center for the History of Astroarcheology was established in 2015 by the Xinjiang Astronomical Observatory in collaboration with various universities and research institutions from within and outside China.The research center focuses on investigating the history of astronomy in ancient China and Central Asia, and the mutual influence of astronomical knowledge along the ancient Silk Road.
Research Focuses:
1. History of Astronomy and Archaeoastronomy in China and Central Asia
2. Collation, Translation, Publication, and Research of Ancient Documents: The center is dedicated to the collation, translation, publication, and research of ancient documents preserved in Xinjiang and Central Asia that are related to astronomical knowledge from the East and the West.
3. Standardization the Translation of Astronomical Terminology: The center collaborates with experts in astronomy and minority languages to standardize the translation of astronomical terminology in languages such as Uyghur, Kazakh, Uzbek, and Kyrgyz.
In recent years, the center has promoted the study of the history of astronomy in Central Asia and Xinjiang by organizing international academic conferences and collaborating with relevant research institutions at home and abroad on scientific research projects. By continuously strengthening the center's development, the goal is to enhance China's influence in the field of astronomical history research in Central Asia. Furthermore, through academic exchanges and cooperation with Central Asian countries in the field of the history of astronomy, the center aims to foster a healthy scientific and cultural environment for the smooth implementation of the national "Belt and Road" initiative, promoting political, economic, and cultural exchanges between China and Central Asian countries.
