Kashi 13-m radio telescope
The Kashi 13-m radio telescope is located at the Kashi station of XAO. Construction began in 2014 and was completed in December 2015. Since 2016, various tests have been carried out on the antenna system, and the angle-point correction of the antenna has been completed.
Utilizing the the 13-m telescope, XAO participated in the joint orbit determination test of ranging data and angle measurement data, providing sub-millisecond ultra-high resolution angle measurement data. The joint ranging data can improve the orbit determination accuracy of the satellites. Due to increasing radio frequency interference from surrounding signals, including 5G, the receiver mounted on the 13-m antenna was upgraded in collaboration with the main station. The observing frequency range was adjusted from 1.2-5 GHz to 8-9 GHz. As a result of these upgrades, there has been a significant improvement in the quality of received signals.
UT1 measurement has been the primary task of the telescope, and a substantial amount of data has been obtained. These observations have effectively supported the establishment of the time standard and related scientific research. The telescope has also participated in several deep space test missions.
