Xinjiang Astronomical Observatory (XAO), under the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), was founded in 1957. With its headquarters in Urumqi, XAO maintains and operates 4 observation stations. Its main observational facilities include the NanShan 26-m Radio Telescope, Nanshan One-meter Wide-field Telescope, Nanshan 1.2-m Optical Telescope. Moreover, the QiTai radio Telescope (QTT), a major national science and technology infrastructure project for astronomy, is now under construction. These facilities provide the necessary observational capacity for supporting China's deep space exploration.

The main research fields of XAO include pulsar emission and gravitational wave detection, star formation and evolution, galaxies and cosmology, astrochemistry, time domain optical astronomy and wide field survey, solar physics, space objects and debris, and astronomical techniques and methods.

Requirements:

1. Research Associate:

Applicants should have obtained PhD degree within the last 3 years in related research fields; recent PhD graduates are preferred (at the time of application, basic requirements for the doctoral dissertation defense must have been met).

Generally, applicants should not exceed 35 years old. They should have experience independently presiding over or participating as a key member in the entire process of a research project (or program) and have achieved certain results.

The applicants must adhere to high standards of research ethics and academic integrity.

2. Full-time Postdoctoral

Applicants should have obtained a doctoral degree, typically within the last three years, and are generally under the age of 35.

They should possess an academic background relevant to the research direction, be capable of conducting scientific research independently, and demonstrate strong research and innovation capabilities, as well as good communication and presentation skills.

Preferential consideration will be given to these applicants when they apply for positions at the XAO after completing their postdoctoral term.

Salary and Supports

1. Compensation includes a base salary and performance pay at the level of Associate Senior Professor Title, plus social insurance. The annual income ranges from 230,000 to 300,000 RMB.

2. For those who meet the relevant requirements, we will actively recommended them to apply for national, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and autonomous region-level talent programs. Successful candidates in these programs are eligible for at least 200,000 RMB settlement allowance.
